Mangoola Coal Opening invitation

The beauty of
the black cockatoo

When it comes to coal mines, imagery that usually springs to mind is big, bold and blunt. However, when it came to developing an invitation for Xstrata’s Mangoola Coal Mine, we decided to challenge convention and create something unexpectedly subtle and delicate. The name Mangoola has indigenous Australian origins, and is thought to mean ‘place of the black cockatoo’. This was the image that served as inspiration for our invitation. Intricate feather patterns laser cut into rich black card emit an air of luxury fit for such a valuable resource. The gorgeous black cockatoo flying out of the event invitation is a bit like a canary in a coal mine…but since it’s still alive we’re good to go!
